UNC Greensboro and the NC Theatre for Young People will present The Emperor’s New Clothes children’s show. The story portrays a vain Emperor who cares for nothing except wearing and displaying clothes. He hires two swindlers who promise him the finest, best suit of clothes from a fabric invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or “hopelessly stupid.  The mission of North Carolina Theatre for Young People is to produce plays to engage young audiences, K-9, in the art of live theatre. COMEDY SHOW TO BENEFIT THE NETWORK FOR ENDANGERED SEA TURTLES (N.E.S.T.) – JULY 2ND – Ramada Plaza – Kill Devil Hills – Enjoy an evening of fun and laughs for a serious cause. Join N.E.S.T. for its summer fundraiser, at The Comedy Club OBX, featuring comedian Mark Riccadonna.  Tickets for the event, “Funny Fundraiser”, are $20 and must be purchased in advance, with 50 percent of sales going to benefit N.E.S.T. N.E.S.T., Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization committed to protecting endangered and threatened sea turtles and their habitat on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, from the Virginia line to Oregon Inlet. N.E.S.T. seeks to provide safe nesting and hatching areas; response to stranded sea turtles; rehabilitation for sick, injured, or cold-stunned turtles; and education for the community and its visitors on the needs of these threatened and endangered turtles. COAST GUARD RESCUE OF THE HMS BOUNTY – JULY 3rd – Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station –Some actual members of the Coast Guard crew (above) that made the now-nationally-famous rescue of the HMS Bounty off of Cape Hatteras during Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012 will present a very rare program this summer at the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum.  The replica Bounty ship was built in 1960 for a movie about its namesake. It was used in several other feature films including “Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest” starring Johnny Depp.

Acoustic Sunsets – Thursdays 5:00 – 9:00 pm – Sanctuary Vineyards – Jarvisburg – Acoustic Sunset is Sanctuary Vineyards’ FREE summer concert series.
