Named for the numerous ducks and waterfowl in the area, Duck is all about water sports. Whether you’re interested in spending the day along the seven miles of sensational beaches, or taking advantage of the town’s location on Currituck Sound for windsurfing, canoeing or sailing, Duck lives up to it’s aquatic name in every sense of the word.
But be aware, Duck has no public beach access. Only residents and renters are allowed, making the beaches there less crowded and even more desirable. In fact, the Travel Channel has consistently ranked Duck on their Annual Best Beach’s list every year since 2000 (even though Duck wasn’t officially a town until 2002).
But Duck is also home to some of the top food and wine destinations on the Outer Banks. If your idea of the perfect day is to do some shopping, relax at a spa, then savor a romantic dinner paired with a locally produced wine, Duck is your destination. All stores are locally owned and operated, so you’re sure to have a wonderful experience no matter where you go. And since the shopping areas are all clustered together, you can easily leave the car parked and shop to your heart’s content.
