Golf on the Outer Banks

When you pack your sunscreen and you beach towel, don’t forget to pack your clubs. Golf on the Outer Banks is a fun challenge, and there are nearly a dozen public and private courses to explore while you’re on vacation.

The Outer Banks terrain lends itself not only to beautiful courses, but also to championship greens. Sand dunes and wetland marshes are used to full potential, creating challenges for golfers of all levels. When the strong sea winds pick up, your perfect shots become even more rewarding.

The key points to playing in the wind are  to not swing at full speed, and to keep the hands in front of the ball. This hand position should be there at address and through impact. Many knockdown shots finish with the forward swing low and only half completed, with the wrists not fully released and definitely not cupped as in a normal shot. The main goal here is to keep the ball low and under control.
